BSc Chemistry and Biochemistry (University of Munich, Germany)
MSc Biology (Technical University of Munich, Germany)
During my Bachelor’s studies in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Munich, I developed a keen interest in different microscopy techniques. I performed my Bachelor’s thesis at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, where I first gained experience in structural biology using electron microscopy. Wishing to deepen my knowledge in cellular and molecular biology, I continued to study Biology at the Technical University of Munich.
After graduating in 2018, I moved to Leeds to start my PhD, which is funded by Kidney Research UK, in the Macdonald and Ranson groups at the University of Leeds. Using biochemical and structural approaches including cryo-EM, my project aims to better understand the biology of BK polyomavirus in order to develop new therapeutic strategies.
Besides science, I’m passionate about learning languages, salsa dancing and hiking in the Yorkshire Dales.
